Sightseeing spots in Kushiro

1. Kushiro Fisherman's Wharf
Kushiro Fisherman's Wharf is a waterfront facility consisting of an
amusement facility (nicknamed MOO) and an all-weather green
tract of land (EGG). It is an ideal place for shopping as many shops
located within Fisherman's Wharf sell food, local specialties, and
miscellaneous goods. There are also many restaurants and a pool.

2. Kushiro City Museum
Over 4,000 items are exhibited in this museum, including animals
and plants of the Kushiro Marsh, archaeological data such as shell
mound remains, and data on the Ainu, Hokkaido's indigenous
people. Environmental music can be heard in this museum, and
materials are exhibited in a unique way.

3. Kushiro Marine Topos
This facility exhibits data on the history and current state of
fishery, one of Kushiro's main industries.

4. Japanese Crane Reserve
This reserve was opened in 1958 to protect TANCHO Grus
japonensis , which were nearing extinction. In 1970, some cranes
were successfully propagated here with the help of artificial
incubation for the first time in the world. About 20 cranes can be
observed here.

5. Kushiro Marsh Observatory
Information on the history of the marsh, its geology, and its flora
and fauna is presented in an exhibition room. From here, there is
a 2.5-kilometer walkway, from which you can enjoy the natural
view.

6. Kushiro Zoo
This zoo breeds and raises primarily animals living in arctic and
mountain districts.
