The day was established by the Standing Committee of the Convention, commemorating the date of the adoption of the Ramsar Convention (Convention on Wetlands of International Importance ) on February 2, 1971. Around the World Wetlands Day (WWD), governmentagencies and NGOs hold various events to raise public awarenessof wetland values in Contracting Party countries in the world every year.
KIWC celebrates WWD, and organizes field tours for local people every year. The participants enjoy the wonderful nature in mid-winter and experience the new findings of the nature and animals in the wetland.
